Bachus Announces Republican Staff of House Financial Services Committee
WASHINGTON, Jan 22 -
Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-6th, Alabama), Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee, has announced the Republican staff members of the House Financial Services Committee. “Our staff reflects a great mix of governmental experience, private sector accomplishment, and educational excellence,” stated Ranking Member Bachus. “The members of this team complement each other well. Thanks to the high quality of our members and staffers, Republicans are well prepared to tackle the challenges the Committee will face during the 110th Congress.” A brief introduction to each member of the Financial Services Committee’s GOP staff follows: Management Team Larry Lavender – Staff Director: Larry’s broad governmental and private sector background includes two stints as Rep. Bachus’s chief of staff, and experience as an owner and manager of manufacturing businesses. A graduate of the University of Alabama, he has also served as chief of staff to both the mayor and city council of Birmingham, Alabama. Jim Clinger – Chief Counsel: Jim returns to the Financial Services Committee – where he previously served as Senior Banking Counsel to Chairman Mike Oxley – from a position as the Acting Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs at the Department of Justice. He holds bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Virginia. Warren Tryon – Deputy Staff Director: A member of Ranking Member Bachus’s team since 1999, Warren served as the Congressman’s Financial Services designee. Previously he served as legislative director to former Rep. Rick Hill. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont. Counsels, Senior Counsels and Professional Staff Dina Ellis – Senior Counsel, Financial Services: Dina has served as Rep. Bachus’s Financial Services Committee designee since 2003. Before that, she was Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary for Consumer Affairs and Community Policy. She was also majority counsel to the Senate Banking Committee, and served on the staffs of Reps. John Shadegg and George Gekas. Danielle English – Senior Professional Staff, Financial Services: Danielle has served on the Financial Services Committee staff since 2005, and previously worked on the House Education and Workforce Committee under Chairman John Boehner. A graduate of Ohio State University, she also served as a legislative assistant to Rep. Judy Biggert. Robert Gordon – Senior Counsel, Capital Markets/Insurance: A Financial Services staffer since 2001, Robert’s expertise includes insurance regulation, data security, fair credit reporting, and privacy. He previously served as counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Robert is a graduate of the University of California – Berkeley, the Georgetown University Law Center, and the Peter F. Drucker School of Management. Kevin Edgar – Senior Counsel, Capital Markets/Securities: Before joining the Committee staff, Kevin served as Associate Director for Government Relations at the PCAOB and Senior Counsel – Government Relations at the New York Stock Exchange. His expertise includes corporate governance, securities regulation, and market structure issues. He is a graduate of Boston College and the University of Dayton School of Law. Michael Borden – Counsel, Capital Markets/GSEs: Michael comes to the Committee from the staff of former Rep. Jim Leach, where he handled banking and financial services issues including Internet gambling, ILCs, and GSEs. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School. Cindy Chetti – Senior Professional Staff, Housing: A Financial Services staffer since 2001, Cindy has over 20 years of experience working on financial services and federal housing policy issues. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic University, she previously served as chief of staff to Rep. Marge Roukema. Tallman Johnson – Senior Professional Staff, Housing: A Committee staffer since 2003, Tallman’s legislative work includes more than 20 housing-related bills enacted into law. A graduate of the University of the South, Tallman once served in the Office of Legislation, Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at HUD. Rashmi Puri – Counsel, Housing/Oversight/Insurance: Joining the Committee in 2005, Rashmi’s experience includes work on insurance, trade, and housing issues. A former intern with the House Science Committee, Rashmi is a graduate of the University of Washington and the Vanderbilt University Law School. Joe Pinder – Senior Professional Staff, Domestic and International Policy: Joe has worked on domestic and international policy and coins/medals issues for the Financial Services Committee since 2001, and in various communications and professional staff capacities since 1993. He once served as press secretary to former Banking Committee Chairman Jim Leach. Communications Richard Cross – Communications Director: Richard’s two decades of private and political sector public relations experience includes stints as congressional press secretary and gubernatorial speechwriter to former Rep. and Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University, Richard also served as senior writer at the 2000 GOP convention in Philadelphia. Marisol Garibay – Assistant Communications Director: Marisol has served on Committee staff since 2005, and previously worked in the offices of Senators Peter Fitzgerald and Norm Coleman. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. Administrative Staff Angela Gambo – Administrative Assistant: Angela has worked on the Banking/Financial Services Committee since 1992, presently serving as financial administrator for the Committee’s Republican side. She previously served as personal secretary/office manager to Rep. Chalmers Wylie. Kim Trimble – Systems Administrator: Kim has worked on the Banking/Financial Services Committees since 1986, and previously worked on the House Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee. She is a graduate of George Mason University. Rosemary Keech – Executive Staff Assistant: Another longtime Committee veteran, Rosemary has managed all support for Committee hearings, markups, and travel since 1992. She is another veteran of the staff of former Rep. Chalmers Wylie. Anthony Cimino – Staff Assistant: A former intern for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Anthony later served in the personal office of Congressman Bachus. He is a graduate of the University of California—Los Angeles. # # #
