Chairman Bachus Announces Committee Schedule

Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus today announced the schedule for the remainder of June 2012.

The Committee’s schedule remains tentative and will depend upon witness availability and other factors that may require changes.  Therefore, each meeting will become final only when the official notice is distributed.  Additional information about each hearing, as well as a list of witnesses, will be released at later dates.

Tuesday, June 19:

The Financial Services Committee will examine the public policy implications of JPMorgan Chase’s recent multi-billion dollar trading loss.  The committee will hear from financial regulators and Jamie Dimon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase.  The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in room 2128 Rayburn.

Wednesday, June 20:


The Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee will hold a hearing focused on U.S. equity market structure. The hearing will evaluate recent SEC proposals to change the current structure and the impact such a change would have on market competition, product innovation, market quality, smaller issuers and investors. The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. in room 2128 Rayburn.

At 1:30 p.m., the Insurance, Housing, and Community Opportunity Subcommittee will examine recent efforts by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to change mortgage loan disclosures required at closing. The hearing will take place in room 2128 Rayburn.

Thursday, June 21

The Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee will meet for a hearing to discuss issues surrounding the provision of retail banking services to money service businesses. The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. in room 2128 Rayburn.

Wednesday, June 27:

The Financial Services Committee will meet for a markup of its semi-annual activity report and H.R. 4367, legislation to amend the Electronic Fund Transfer Act to limit the fee disclosure requirement for an automatic teller machine to the screen of that machine. The markup will begin at 10 a.m. in room 2128 Rayburn. 

Thursday, June 28:

The Insurance and Housing Community Opportunity Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the appraisal industry and regulations impacting the single-family mortgage market. The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in room 2128 Rayburn.

At 2 p.m., the Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology Subcommittee will hold a hearing on fractional reserve banking and its impact on monetary policy. The hearing will take place in room 2128 Rayburn.
