Media Advisory: Terrorist Financing, Data Security Among Committee Bills Slated for Action Next Week

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) today announced the committee’s schedule for next week. Tuesday, December 8 at 10:00 A.M. – Eight of the Financial Stability Oversight Council’s 10 voting members will appear before the Financial Services Committee for an oversight hearing. The FSOC, created by the Dodd-Frank Act, is a committee of regulators charged with protecting the U.S. economy from future financial crises. Tuesday, December 8 at 2:00 P.M. - The Financial Services Committee will debate and vote on eight bills, including legislation to protect consumers’ personal financial information by creating a national data security and data breach notification standard. In addition, the Committee will consider a resolution to continue its Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing. The Task Force has held five hearings this year, ranging from the links between international crime and terrorism to the security of the U.S. financial sector.
