Media Advisory: Committee Hearing Schedule for the Week of March 21

Washington, Mar 18 -

WASHINGTON - Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) today announced the committee’s hearing schedule for the week of March 21:

Tuesday, March 22 at 10:00 A.M.- The Financial Services Committee will hold a hearing to receive the annual testimony of the Secretary of the Treasury on the State of the International Financial System. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew will testify.

Since Secretary Lew’s last appearance at the committee, Congress passed and President Obama signed into law reforms to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the Administration had resisted.  Congress reduced the U.S. contribution to the IMF for the first time in the Fund’s history; repealed the IMF’s “systemic exemption,” which had been used to green-light large loans to highly indebted European Union countries; and deactivated $39 billion in a supplementary credit line at the IMF.

Tuesday, March 22 at 2:00 P.M. - The Housing and Insurance Subcommittee hearing will hold a hearing to examine how excessive regulations drive up the cost of affordable rental and single-family housing developments.

All committee activity will take place in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Additional information, including a live video of the proceedings, will be available on the Committee’s website.
