Financial Services Republicans are Leaders in the Coronavirus Recovery Effort
Washington, May 7 -
Republican Members of the House Financial Services Committee are playing a critical role in Congress’ ongoing response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Several Republicans on the Committee have been chosen to serve as members of the CARES Act Congressional Oversight Commission, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, the GOP China Task Force, and the President’s Opening Up America Again Congressional Group. Republicans are leading—and will continue to work with the Trump Administration to provide relief to workers and ensure our nation’s economic recovery. Rep. French Hill (AR-2) will serve on the CARES Act Congressional Oversight Commission: House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy appointed Congressman French Hill to serve as the House Republican designee on the Congressional Oversight Commission established to oversee the implementation of the CARES Act. “It is an honor to be chosen by Leader McCarthy to serve as the representative for House Republicans on this important bipartisan, bicameral commission. We are at a critical moment in our nation’s history, fighting COVID-19 and working to bring swift relief to the millions of affected families and businesses and bring our nation’s economy back to its full force,” said Rep. Hill. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) will serve on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis: Congressman Luetkemeyer was appointed by House Republican Leadership to the Select Coronavirus Subcommittee. While Speaker Pelosi created this partisan and duplicative subcommittee to investigate the Trump Administration, Republican subcommittee members will play a critical role in ensuring Democrats do not misuse this platform. “My job on this committee will focus on holding China accountable for the virus and their efforts to cover it up, ensure the families and small businesses most effected by the outbreak are getting the help they need, and to put an end to yet another political witch hunt before it starts,” said Rep. Luetkemeyer. Congressmen Andy Barr (KY-6), Denver Riggleman (VA-5), and Anthony Gonzalez (OH-16) will serve on the House GOP China Task Force: This critical Task Force established by Leader McCarthy will bring together select Members from key committees to help reinforce Congressional efforts to counter current and emerging cross-jurisdictional threats from China. “The task force will hold meetings and briefings to get members on the same page regarding a host of China-related issues. The list includes China’s influence activities inside the United States, export control and foreign investment screening, efforts to take over international organizations, control over crucial supply chains, the organizational presence on American campuses, and economic aggression,” wrote the Washington Post. Republican Committee Members are serving on the White House Opening Up America Again Congressional Group: In April, President Trump established a bipartisan, bicameral congressional group to work alongside the Administration to restart our economy. Since then, President Trump has released a set of guidelines providing state and local officials with the information they need to safely get Americans back to work. The Congressional group will continue to work with the Administration to lead our nation’s recovery.
