Bachus Requests 30 Days For American Public to Review Final Version of Senate's Financial Reform Legislation

WASHINGTON, May 7, 2010 -

- House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Spencer Bachus today sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senators Chris Dodd and Richard Shelby requesting the American public to have 30 days to review the amended version of the financial regulatory reform bill prior to the Senate's final consideration.

"We can all agree that both the size and scope of this legislation warrant a significant amount of transparency and time for the public to read and digest its contents, and understand the impact it will have on their pocketbooks and their businesses," Bachus wrote. "Taxpayers deserve full access to the final version and sufficient time to read, understand, and to communicate their opinions to their representatives before the bill is up for a vote."
