Rep. Kevin McCarthy joins House Financial Services Committee
WASHINGTON,
October 3, 2007 -
House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Spencer Bachus (R-6th, AL) announced that Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-22nd., CA) has been appointed to serve as the newest Republican member of the House Financial Services Committee. Rep. McCarthy will serve on the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, Housing and Community Opportunity, and Oversight and Investigations subcommittees. "It is a pleasure to welcome Rep. McCarthy to the Financial Services Committee," stated Rep. Bachus. "Kevin is a new Member with a lot of energy and potential. The combination of his educational background, skills as a legislator, and hands-on experience as a small business owner nicely complements the talents of the other Republican members of the Committee. He's a great addition to the team." "Being selected to serve on the Financial Services Committee is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to crafting new and innovative ideas to help Americans realize their dreams," said Rep. McCarthy. "The Committee's jurisdiction over our housing and banking services offers a great way to help America's innovators and families. I am excited to work with other members of the Committee, including Chairman Barney Frank and Ranking Member Spencer Bachus, to help ensure our financial policies keep us on the road of growth and prosperity." First elected in November 2006, Rep. McCarthy previously served in the California State Assembly. McCarthy and his wife, Judy, have two children, Connor and Meghan, and reside in Bakersfield.
