Bachus Statement on Financial Services' Unanimous Support to Investigate Treasury's AIG Bonus Role

WASHINGTON, March 26, 2009 -

Resolution Aims to Hold Administration Accountable for Bailout, Bonuses and Increase Transparency

- Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL), the top Financial Services Committee Republican, issued this statement following the Committee's unanimous, 64-0 vote approving the LaTourette-McCotter Resolution of Inquiry, which requires Treasury Department to disclose all documentation related to the legislative language inserted in the economic stimulus bill authorizing all AIG bonuses:

"Someone in the Obama Administration needs to step up to the plate and acknowledge their role in requesting the Senate amendment blessing all of the AIG bonuses. The American people deserve to know without delay who made these decisions and why the administration was saying one thing and doing another.

"I am pleased to join Congressmen LaTourette and McCotter in ensuring the American people get the answers they deserve."
