Financial Services Committee’s Hearing Schedule for First Week of August


Washington, July 27, 2011 - Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus today announced the committee’s hearing schedule for the first week of August.

All hearings will begin at 10 a.m. and will take place in Room 2128 Rayburn.

Wednesday, August 3:  The Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee will hold a hearing on the single- and multi-family programs of the Federal Housing Administration and the Rural Housing Service.  The hearing will also focus on legislative proposals to improve the financial condition of FHA, RHS and Ginnie Mae.  Witnesses for this Subcommittee hearing will be announced at a later date.

Thursday, August 4:  The Financial Services Committee will host SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro as it examines the structure and operations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the need for SEC reform.

Friday, August 5:  Exposure of U.S. banks to the European Union’s debt crisis will be the subject of a full committee hearing.  Witnesses will be announced at a later date.
