Financial Services Committee Releases Schedule of Hearings for Sept.19-23


Washington, September 14, 2011 - Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus on Tuesday announced the committee’s schedule of hearings for the week of September 19.  All hearings will take place in room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

Wednesday, September 21:
The Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. on promoting small business capital formation.

The International Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 2 p.m. to examine the relationship between the health of the U.S. housing finance system and global financial stability.

Thursday, September 22:
The Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 9:30 a.m. to examine the availability of credit products for consumers who may not have access to services provided by traditional financial institutions.

The Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee will hold a hearing at 1 p.m. on the decision by Standard and Poor’s to downgrade the U.S. credit rating.

Friday, September 23:
At 10 a.m., a joint hearing will be held by the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s Subcommittee on TARP, Financial Services and Bailouts of Public and Private Programs.  The title of the joint hearing is “Conflict of Interest at the SEC: The Becker Case.”

The committee schedule remains tentative and will depend upon witness availability and other factors that may require changes.  Therefore, each meeting will become final only when the official notice is distributed.  Hearing witnesses will be announced at later dates.
