Hensarling Statement on Outlook for 114th Congress

Washington, November 5, 2014 - Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) issued the following statement concerning the outlook for the 114th Congress:

“The American people want a fresh start in Washington because they know Washington’s way of over-regulating, over-taxing and over-spending doesn’t work.  They have entrusted Republicans with a stronger legislative hand to address these problems, and that’s why I look forward to working with new leaders in the Senate and with the Republican-led House to advance common sense solutions that hold Washington accountable, lessen the burden of frustrating red tape, and build a sustainable and consumer-friendly housing finance system.

“Over the past two years the Financial Services Committee has advanced nearly two dozen bills designed to promote investment, job growth and opportunity through the House with strong bipartisan support.  Every one of those bipartisan bills has been stalled in the Senate due to gridlock from Democrat leadership.

“As Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, I look forward to working with Republicans and Democrats alike to promote economic growth by fostering the deepest, most liquid, competitive, efficient, innovative and transparent capital markets the world has ever seen.”
