Media Advisory: Committee Hearing Schedule for the Week of March 27

Washington, March 24, 2017 -

Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) today announced the committee’s schedule for the week of March 27:

Tuesday, March 28 at 10:00 A.M. – The Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “The Arbitrary and Inconsistent Non-Bank SIFI Designation Process.” The hearing will examine a recent Financial Services Committee Majority Staff Report which found significant concerns with the process employed by the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) to designate nonbank financial institutions as Systemically Important Financial Institutions (SIFIs) – more commonly referred to as “too big to fail.”

Tuesday, March 28 at 2:00 P.M. – The Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “The State of Bank Lending in America.” In the six years prior to Dodd-Frank, small bank lending was more than 150 percent above large bank lending.  In the six years after, small bank lending has been nearly 80 percent below large bank lending.  This hearing will examine recent trends in lending and how Dodd-Frank has constrained consumer and small business access to credit.

Wednesday, March 29 at 10:00 A.M. – The Capital Markets, Securities and Investment Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled “Examining the Impact of the Volcker Rule on the Markets, Businesses, Investors, and Job Creators.” The hearing will examine the impacts of the Volcker Rule on the U.S. capital markets broadly, including its impact on the liquidity and functionality of the fixed income and securitization markets, the ability of U.S. and international businesses to finance their operations, U.S. competitiveness, and job creation.

All hearings will take place in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building and will be broadcast live on republicans-financialservices.house.gov/.
