Chairman Hill Statement on Government Shutdown
Washington,
October 1, 2025
House Committee on Financial Services Chairman French Hill (AR-02) released the following statement after the federal government lapsed in funding: “The House Financial Services Committee has planned a robust October schedule to advance our agenda. With this lapse in government funding, the American people are ultimately hurt by our critical work coming to a halt in Congress,” said Chairman Hill. “House Republicans included an extension of the Defense Production Act (DPA) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in the House-passed clean continuing resolution last month. With Senate Democrats voting against this critical funding, the NFIP and DPA have now expired, hurting at-risk property owners across our nation and harming the ability for our government to speed up production of necessary supplies if there is a national security crisis. Committee Republicans stand ready to work and are eager to come to a resolution to turn the lights back on in Congress and move forward with the important business at hand for the American people, including securing critical extensions of the DPA and NFIP.” |
