Chairman Hill, Committee Members Call for Investigation into Little Rock Housing Authority Misconduct
Washington,
April 13, 2026
House Committee on Financial Services Chairman French Hill (AR-02), Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Dan Meuser (PA-09), Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Mike Flood (NE-01), Rep. Tim Moore (NC-14), and Rep. Troy Downing (MT-02), sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Jonathan D. Ross. In the letter, the lawmakers urge the Eastern District of Arkansas to investigate alleged misconduct by former Little Rock Housing Authority, conducting business as the Metropolitan Housing Alliance (MHA), and prosecute, as appropriate, individuals that engaged in wrongdoing. The letter, which is part of the Committee’s broader investigation into the quality and safety of America’s public housing, comes on the heels of an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee field hearing in Little Rock, Arkansas, titled: “Broken Promises: Failures of the Little Rock Housing Authority and the Impact on Residents.” Both the hearing and the letter document serious concerns regarding the activities of former MHA commissioners from 2018 through 2024. These concerns include a pattern of significant financial mismanagement and potential misuse and theft of millions in taxpayer dollars. These alleged actions have undermined housing stability and living conditions for MHA residents, diverting critical resources intended to help Arkansans in need of safe, affordable housing. The letter calls on federal prosecutors to prioritize the investigation, pursue any identified criminal wrongdoing, and provide a briefing on the status of the case.
